A fantastic presentation from Stanford graduate Ilsa Dohmen at Hillbrook School.
Some key ideas I took away from our visit:
- Isla’s background in research at Stanford provided the expertise to roll out a formalised action research programme at the school. She seemed to have a particular focus on learning spaces (“Every space defines how you’re going to be and how you’re going to think.”) but provided methodology frameworks for teachers to pursue research into other areas of interest.
- Philosophy of the ‘Maker movement’ fused throughout the school curriculum.
